Columbia Business School gets top ranked again in 2002
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, May 30 - 2002 at 13:05
- PRESS RELEASE
Columbia Business School has been ranked the world's number one business school worldwide in executive education by The Financial Times in its 2002 survey - for the 3rd consecutive year.
"This unprecedented top ranking for three consecutive years reflects the outstanding quality of the teaching and curriculum provided by Columbia's Executive Education programmes. Based upon feedback from executive education course participants and multinational corporate purchasers, the survey recognises Columbia Business School's commitment to providing the highest-calibre product to its customers worldwide, and we at Leading Concepts are proud to be able to offer such world-class programmes to our customers in the Middle East," said Aman Merchant, CEO of Leading Concepts, who have an exclusive partnership with the Business School for executive education in the Middle East region.
"When we launched our partnership with Columbia in November 2000, we had stated that programmes were being specifically tailored to the requirements of this region. We are thus now extremely honoured to take this opportunity to announce our hosting the world-premiere of the business school's 'Columbia General Management Programme' here in Dubai" added Merchant.
The innovative three day executive programme shall be held from June 10 to 12 at the Fairmont Dubai, Dubai, UAE.
"General managers today can no longer rely on last year's knowledge to promote future growth in their organisations. More than ever, corporate and public sector leaders must look to renew their intellectual capital and build upon the skill set that has driven the performance of their organisations. Designed to promote the personal and organisational development of leaders in the Middle East, the Columbia General Management Programme focuses on the critical elements of general management leadership in a global economy and aims to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance the participants' effectiveness as innovative and visionary leaders," explained Merchant.
"A unique feature of this programme is the Personal Case Project, which is being offered by Columbia Business School for the first time in the Middle East in an open enrolment programme" said Professor Clifford Schorer, who is one of two faculty leading the programme.
"This requires participants to summarise an important leadership issue or challenge that they will work on during the programme. They will need to choose a project in line with important business objectives for their organisation. During the programme, they will work on this case in the context of a peer consulting process to prepare an "action plan" to implement when they return to their organisation at the conclusion of the programme," added Professor Schorer.
"This programme focuses on the needs of competitive organisations and managers to maximise themselves and their teams. Day one is dedicated to the importance of developing and implementing effective strategies, while days two and three concentrate on building entrepreneurial leadership skills, and personal development and growth," added Professor Murray Low, the co-faculty director of the programme.
