The award was presented to Tayyeb Al Mulla, Chief Executive, ENOC International Refining and Marketing by Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Education, Mr Peter Chen.

ENOC was among 37 top industry players honoured by the STDB for "their success and commitment to using Singapore as their hub for international trading and shipping operations."

When it opened in April 1999, ENOC Singapore was the first overseas office of the Dubai-headquartered ENOC Group. "The wider Asian markets are vital to ENOC's international refining and marketing business and Singapore was chosen as a hub from which to serve this sector. The choice was based on the country's developed international oil business infrastructure," said Hussain Sultan, Group Chief Executive and Board Member, ENOC.

ENOC is the first Middle Eastern national oil company to establish operations in Singapore. According to Senior Minister Chen, ENOC now joins over 120 successful, global players to have received STDB honours.

"Your presence here generates significant spin-offs to the economy," Senior Minister Chen told the gathering. "Last year, companies under these schemes generated over US $3 billion in local business spending. We value the partnership between global companies and Singapore in expanding businesses in the global trade scene."

Senior Minister Chen added: "I am confident that we can ride out current economic difficulties together and work towards the vision of developing Singapore into a Globapolis and Enterprise hub. Working in partnership, we can jointly pursue new opportunities in the dynamic global economy."
