- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 21 - 2005 at 17:21
- PRESS RELEASE
Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Middle East is improving the performance of its luxury segment-leading Viano and Vito vans by fitting a more powerful six-cylinder engine.
The new Vito 123 and Viano 3.5, therefore, have a significant performance advantage over their predecessors, the six-cylinder Vito 122 & Viano 3.2 models, in terms of torque by 13 percent and in terms of total displacement by 16 percent.
The new Vito 123, voted "Van of the Year 2005", and Viano 3.5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in astonishing nine seconds and have a top speed of 200 kph.
"No other V6 engine in this displacement class is able to offer output and torque characteristics which have been specially designed for dynamic performance and enjoyment as this new six-cylinder from Mercedes-Benz," said Roland Schneider, Director Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles, DaimlerChrysler Middle East. "This engine feature guarantees immense pulling power and rapid sprints in addition to relaxed driving, tremendous running smoothness and low noise level in high gears."
Mercedes-Benz is also offering the new 3.7-litre V6 engine in combination with the fully automatic, electro hydraulically shifted five-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to the great performance characteristics, both Vito and Viano offer ultra-safe design and are the only vans in their class to be fitted as standard with Electronic Stability Program (ESP). ESP incorporates and anti-lock braking system (ABS) and acceleration skid control (ASR), electronic brake force distribution (EBV) and a brake assist system.
