Jumbo-Sony Annual Conference 2002 - an exercise in forecasting and team building

Held on May 9, 2002, it was an exercise in introspection and learning from past years' performance. It was also an occasion when all at Jumbo Electronics paid rich tributes to the one man responsible for creating this giant organisation - the late Mr. M R Chhabria.

A daylong affair, the whole of the Sony Division, along with others in Jumbo came together to look at the achievements of the year gone by and outline the plans and targets for the coming year.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Vishesh L Bhatia, Chief Operating Officer, Jumbo Electronics Co. Ltd. (LLC), "It was a time to learn from the past and forecast for the future. Also an occasion to reward our star performers and foster team spirit, as together we can march ahead to greater heights."

An exhilarating atmosphere, it was a mix of serious business with pleasure. It was characterised by a series of presentations by the division heads as well as category managers for Sony products, with each focusing on forthcoming trends and new product launches.

Also present on the occasion was Mr. Yasuhide Yokota, MD, Sony Gulf, who was there to award the achievers of the year. According to him, "Initiatives like this are very welcome as they are an important step towards building a strong foundation to a team."

According to Mr. Probir Mukherjee, AVP (Sony Division), Jumbo Electronics, "Team effort and high motivation levels are key to success of any business venture. And, this has been the driving principle of our Jumbo Sony Annual Conference."

Team games, quizzes and a treasure hunt were also organized to add a fun element to the whole-day affair. The evening was rounded off amidst an award distribution ceremony (to recognize the achievers) followed by dinner.
