Emirates Skycargo again elected Air Cargo Carrier of the Year

The highly-esteemed honour was recently announced at the historic Honourable Artillery Company in London.

A panel of judges - senior figures from several global cargo companies - chose Emirates SkyCargo from a shortlist of top international air cargo carriers.

Ram Menen, Emirates' Senior Vice President Cargo said: "We are honoured to receive this award for the second year in a row, a powerful affirmation of Emirates SkyCargo's continuing drive to offer the highest levels of customer service."

The award comes as Emirates SkyCargo continues expanding the services it provides across its global network. Earlier this month it commenced a second daily service from Birmingham to Dubai, growing cargo capacity on the route by over 80 per cent and taking its offer of UK services to 12 daily non-stop flights per day.

This year Seoul and the Seychelles have been added to Emirates SkyCargo's global network. Daily services to Hamburg commence on 30th October and to Beijing on 1st February, 2006. Emirates SkyCargo currently serves a network of more than 75 destinations in 54 countries.

Next month heralds the arrival of the first of three Airbus A310-300 freighter aircraft into the carrier's fleet. This aircraft will serve mainly regional and mid-sized routes, working alongside the carrier's six Boeing 747 freighters on bigger freight routes.

Emirates SkyCargo has won several major cargo awards this year including: 'Best Air Cargo Carrier - Middle East' from Cargo News Asia for the third consecutive year; and 'Best Cargo Airline to the Middle East' (17th year running), 'Best Cargo Airline to the Indian subcontinent' (8th year) and 'Best Cargo Airline to the Far East' for the second time from Air Cargo News.
