"This significant achievement is a result of Gulf Air's strong and continuous commitment to the highest levels of international safety and quality standards set by IATA in all fields of aviation," said Gulf Air President and Chief Executive, James Hogan.

He praised the dedication and continuous efforts of the Gulf Air management and staff to achieve the certification ahead of schedule.

The audits were developed by IATA and determine the standards for safety and quality covering various areas in the airlines activities such as security, flight operations, maintenance, ground services and cargo.

The programme aims to standardize and promote air safety practices, and is accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and all the aviation authorities around the world.

The successful completion of the audit positions Gulf Air amongst the world major airlines that comply with internationally recognised safety standards, regulations and industry best practices.

The IATA audit covers airline activities in the areas of organization and management, flight operations, cabin operations, maintenance, security, ground services, and cargo.
