ADU & The University of Berlin sign MoU

The University of Abu Dhabi and The University of Berlin - Freie Universitat Berlin, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding whereby the two institutions agreed to work cooperatively to facilitate the exchange of scholars and students between the two institutions, and to establish mutually beneficial relationships.
His. Excellency. Ali S. Bin Harmal, Chairman of the Executive Board of Governors, said that, "ADU continues to develop as an institution focused upon meeting the needs both of the National and Expat communities in support of the development of the United Arab Emirates." He adds, "We are delighted to be able to work with one of the world's leading graduate universities, and look forward to cooperative ventures that will enrich our students' professional knowledge and skills."
ADU plans to design and deliver joint graduate degree programs with the Freie Universitat Berlin in the future. Strong interest has been expressed by current ADU students, as well as members of the Abu Dhabi community, for more access to international quality graduate degree programs offered in English. Prof. Dr. Owen Cargol, Governor & Provost of the University, expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Jürgen Steltzer, and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, for assisting in establishing the relationship between the two universities.

The University of Abu Dhabi was chartered as a private institution of higher learning in 2000, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and President of the ADU Board of Trustees & Governors. The University is licensed by the Ministry of Education, and all of its degree programs are accredited by MOE. ADU currently serves 1,400 students at its three campus locations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and is in the process of constructing a new main campus in Khalifa City, with completion due the summer of 2006.
