ASPIRE leads the debate on sports medicine
- Qatar: Sunday, July 03 - 2005 at 12:30
- PRESS RELEASE
ASPIRE, the Academy for Sports Excellence based in Doha, has been strongly represented at one of the world's most prestigious sports medicine congresses, recently held in Germany.
At the event, Dr. Dingerkus shared new lessons learned through the development of a sports medicine program at ASPIRE, where there is a strong focus on injury prevention for the young student athletes. This innovative approach, supported by the world-class healthcare facilities available at the Academy, offers an important new model for specialists in the field of sports medicine.
The congress, which was organized by the Society for Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Sports Medicine (GOTS), featured state-of-the-art presentations in the areas of sports medicine, and served as a forum for the exchange of new ideas among opinion leaders through workshops and symposia.
The GOTS congress featured global authorities like Sweden's Professor Per Renstroem and America's James A. Nunley and is firmly entrenched as one of the most important events for sports medicine authorities.
Commenting on his impressions of the Congress on his return to Qatar, Dr. Dingerkus said: "While learning a great deal about new diagnostic and treatment methods from fellow attendees, I hope my presence at the GOTS congress will also serve to raise ASPIRE's profile in the field of sports medicine.
"With its strict review process for submitted papers, the talks held at this congress are insightful, high level and comprehensive, fusing science and practical clinical work to provide a unique insight for young physicians. I'm looking forward to incorporating the lessons learnt at this congress into ASPIRE's future programmes."
Dr. Dingerkus, who has previously worked with FC Bayern Munich and the University Hospital of Munich, also attended a series of meetings while at the event, presenting the concept and vision of ASPIRE to attendees.
ASPIRE's philosophy is to strive for excellence in all areas of its operations, ranging from its education program through to its advanced facilities. Taking a lead in the field of sports medicine forms a core part of this approach.
