Mrs Juhaina Al Fardan, newly appointed UAE Graduate Recruitment Manager for HSBC, is enclosed.
Mrs Al Fardan will be responsible for maintaining and deepening the Bank's relationships with schools and colleges across the UAE, and for promoting HSBC as an employer of choice. She will also manage the "HSBC University", a unique concept for the training and career progression of UAE national staff established in 2004. This scheme inducts UAE nationals into a specific job role following an agreed training and development programme. A total of 107 nationals have so far attended the HSBC University, out of almost 700 UAE nationals employed by HSBC Bank Middle East Limited.

Mrs Al Fardan will work closely with HSBC's Regional Training Centre, based in Dubai, through which the Bank offers leading edge training programmes specially designed for UAE nationals.

Celia Daniels, Head of Human Resources for HSBC, said "Juhaina brings with her a wealth of experience in the UAE banking sector. Though we have more national staff working for us than any other bank in the UAE, the growth in our business depends on our ability to continue to to attract, retain and develop the best new candidates coming into the labour market. We offer attractive pay and conditions, a career structure with training and development to match each individual's skills and aptitudes, and the chance to work for one of the world's leading financial services organisations. With Juhaina's knowledge and experience, we are confident that we will meet our recruitment and development goals.

"Newly recruited UAE national executives of the Bank are given the opportunity to attend the HSBC Group's Graduate Development Programme at the Group's learning centre in the UK. Once on the job, a mentor is assigned for each UAE national for the first three years of their career with the Bank for coaching and counseling. This shows the extent of our commitment to our staff and their future development with us," she added.

HSBC was a founder partner in Emiratisation.org, an association of managers launched recently, which supports the recruitment of UAE nationals in the private sector. The Bank has also received a number of awards for its success in attracting and developing UAE nationals in a banking career. The Bank holds regular recruitment drives to provide young and experienced UAE nationals with the opportunity to learn about the Bank's business, as well as a chance to meet managers and staff to consult on the opportunities available for a fulfilling career.
