The move is part of DWTC's ongoing commitment, in co-operation with the authorities, to promote Dubai as a complete business, leisure and tourism destination.

"We are delighted to be able to support DSS, which is regarded as one of the region's leading leisure and entertainment events as a key sponsor," said DWTC Director General Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri. "While we have always been involved with the DSS in the past by hosting many of their activities, we are glad to be able to demonstrate our commitment to the community at large by our increased involvement this year," Mr. Al Marri added.

DSS 2005 will run from June 22 to September 2 this year and includes a range of activities designed for wholesome family entertainment during the summer months. The festival has played a key role in turning Dubai into a qholesome tourist destination the year round.

Since its inception in 1979, the DWTC's meetings and exhibition facilities have, over the years, grown to be the focal point for business interests in the Middle East. Located at the head of Sheikh Zayed Road - Dubai's commercial heartland - the centre has developed into a highly flexible and adaptable facility that provides total meetings solutions unmatched in the region.

The centre offers 35,000 square metres of prime exhibition space in various configurations in addition to the Sheikh Rashid Hall (7,668 sq m), which when set for the maximum capacity as an auditorium, the hall can accommodate 4,500. To complement the main exhibition halls, there are conference halls and meeting rooms of varying capacity, as well as a business centre and media facilities.

The DWTC hosts some of the largest and most prestigious international exhibitions in the Middle East such as Index, Big 5, Arabian Travel Market and Cityscape.

In addition the organising division of Dubai World Trade Centre is responsible for some of the most successful exhibitions and events including GITEX, the Middle East International Cable, Satellite, Broadcast and Communications Exhibition (CABSAT), Gulfood, International Jewellery Dubai and the Middle East International Motor Show.

The Food and Beverage division of the DWTC provides catering to a wide range of clients and specialises in both onsite and external functions of various kinds. The state-of-the-art production kitchen is capable of serving up 8,000 meals daily. The team includes a professional team led by a German executive chef and offers multi-cuisine specialties including Emirati, Iranian, Lebanese, Italian, French, Chinese, Indian, Moroccan and Egyptian.

The DWTC is also increasingly popular as an exclusive venue for weddings. The facilities at the centre, which are engineered to provide end-to-end solutions including arrangements, layout, settings, music and entertainment and top-flight catering, can cater to gatherings of 6,000 invitees and more. The list of royal and other high-profile weddings held at the DWTC is increasing rapidly.

Over the past year the DWTC has hosted 75 exhibitions, 91 conferences and seminars, 113 banqueting functions, 12 concerts, 213 meetings, 23 parties and 178 weddings.
