This year the emphasis is on luring more of the guests who stay at the adjacent apartment complex, owned by Al Bustan, to participate in the various DSS activities, and at the same time enjoy a great shopping experience at the mall. Guests staying at the Al Bustan Residence during DSS are predominantly families from neighbouring GCC countries.

Commenting on the mall's programme for DSS 2005, Mr. Moussa El Hayek, General Manager, Al Bustan Centre, said: "Dubai Summer Surprises has had a very positive impact on the sales and mall traffic at Al Bustan Centre, especially because of the numerous fun activities targeting families and the mega promotion of the Dubai Shopping Malls Group. Based on the feedback and numerous queries we have received, and our own marketing strategy, we anticipate an increase between 10-15 percent in terms of sales and visitors this DSS".

He added: "We appreciate the steps being taken to promote major events like the DSS, which in turn enhances Dubai's image as a unique shopping destination and contributes tremendously towards the increase in visitors to the emirate in the summer months. To ensure that DSS visitors at Al Bustan continue to receive the best hospitality and high quality services, we have assigned a special committee to support the various DSS activities at the mall".

During the on-going Art Surprises, Al Bustan Centre is hosting several activities including the Palestinian Band on 12 July, and Puppet Shows on 13 July. In addition to the DSS activities, Al Bustan Centre has other attractions for families including a food court offering a variety of cuisine to titillate the taste buds of people from different nationalities. Children can also have a rollicking time at the popular amusement centre, Fantasy Kingdom.
