- Jordan: Monday, July 11 - 2005 at 08:41
- PRESS RELEASE
Royal Jordanian carried 154,858 passengers in June 2005, marking a 7.5 per cent increase over the June 2004 figures.
Air cargo also witnessed an operational growth; the airline carried 5,436 tons of cargo in June 2005, against 5,172 tons carried in the corresponding month in 2004, marking an increase of 5.1 per cent. The on-time performance went up from 86.2 per cent in June last year to 88.9 per cent in June 2005. Moreover, the seat factor rate during June of this and last year increased to 72.9 per cent from 69.9 per cent.
The result of the overall operations enabled RJ to post JD30.425 million in revenues in June 2005, compared to JD27.671 million in the same period last year.
These improvements in all aspects of operations are attributed to better ground and in-flight services RJ offers its passengers, to better on-time performance and to the focus on manpower investment, through which Royal Jordanian endeavors to give passengers distinguished service.
The operational situation has been improving since the beginning of this year, peaking up during the current summer months. This period is expected to register a record number of passengers, especially considering that during the first six months of the current year RJ transported more than 798,000 passengers, compared to 766,000 passengers in the corresponding period of 2004, marking a 4.2 per cent increase.
Revenues rose from JD144.5 million in the first half of last year to JD163.5 million in the same period of 2005, marking an increase of 13.1 per cent.
Royal Jordanian recently announced that during the first quarter of 2005 it posted JD4.3 million in net profit, while the projected budget envisaged a JD1.4 million loss during the same period.
