About The British University in Dubai
The British University in Dubai (BUiD) is the Middle East's first postgraduate, research-based university. The university was established to facilitate access to world-class education, training and research in the Middle East. BUiD aspires to the highest, internationally recognised British standards as reflected in its partnership with The University of Edinburgh, The University of Birmingham and The University of Manchester and The University of Cardiff. Each has a five or five-star rating in the UK national research assessment that signifies research of international standard.

The not-for-profit university offers full and part time masters degree programmes and Continuing Professional Development courses in Information Technology, Project Management and Education.

BUiD's Masters Programmes in Information Technology, Project Management and Education have received Accreditation Eligibility Status from The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Commission for Academic Accreditation. Further Masters programmes are planned in Environmental Design of Buildings, Finance and Banking and IT Management as well as PhDs in exciting disciplines.

The founders of the University are the Al Maktoum Foundation, The Dubai Development and Investment Authority, Rolls Royce, the British Business Group and the National Bank of Dubai. The University is managed by a provisional council under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Seed Al Maktoum.

Other organisations have shown their support for BUiD by providing scholarships. These include the Emirates Group, Dubai Duty Free, DUCAB and Atkins. In addition to providing scholarships, Atkins has also funded a professorship in the new institute of the Built Environment which has been established in partnership with the University of Cardiff, UK.
