They also congratulated Dr. Eren on his new position, who has replaced Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and has also been appointed as the Secretary General of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), an socio-economic bloc of Muslim nations.

The unique Arabic calligraphy exhibition, organized by the department, has become an integral part of the calendar of events during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) for the past two years.

Both the organizations agreed to bring renowned calligraphers from other countries, especially Arabic calligraphers who have immigrated to the UK and the US.

Last year, the 'Dubai International Exhibition on the Art of Arabic Calligraphy' showcased the works of 25 prize-winning contemporary calligraphers from eight Arab and Islamic countries - Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Iraq and Iran in addition to the UAE.

Arabic calligraphy is one of the most respected art forms and the exhibition provided a perfect platform for learning about the entire spectrum of Arabic calligraphy.
