"The Middle East and Africa region is actually one of the advanced areas at a global level for the mobile phone industry," said Elie Otaki, Marketing communications Manager, MEA. "They are important markets for us with amazing potential for growth, we are determined to continue to be innovative in our communications outreach as well as in the production of our phones," he added.

"As a company, Sony Ericsson has successfully marched ahead in on-line presence and general marketing approach. We place serious emphasis on PR as a proven and effective communications tool across the diverse spread of this region. Its adaptability, versatility for localised deployment and its growing awareness make it an important element of our overall marketing spends," he said.

The company, which this month announced four new phones - the S600, J210, K 608 and Z520 - appointed PR@JWT in January 2005 to handle its MENA communications activities from its offices in Dubai, Riyadh, Beirut and Casablanca.

"Regular regional communications meetings such as this one are essential to interlink both the agencies and forge with Sony Ericsson a united team," Otaki concluded.
