Emirates reduces insurance surcharge for travel to Colombo

Emirates has reduced the insurance surcharge on fares for travel to the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, from USD60 to USD5 per sector, effective from today.

The move brings Colombo in line with the surcharge on all Emirates' fares to all destinations worldwide, implemented on 1st October.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Emirates' Commercial Operations Director, said: "Due to successful negotiation, we have managed to reduce the surcharge on our Colombo fares to the same charged on all Emirates' flights.

"We are compelled to implement these surcharges to ensure proper insurance coverage for our customers."

Customers are required to pay US$5 on every sector of their flight, or every ticket coupon.
