Welcome - to Marhaba's new fast flyer service
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, June 09 - 2002 at 09:55
- PRESS RELEASE
A new Marhaba Lounge service at check-in for travellers from Dubai International Airport officially opened its doors yesterday.
At first exclusive to passengers on Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, the new lounge will be marketed to 40-plus other airlines serving Dubai - and its facilities have room for expansion as they sign up.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Dermot Mannion, Emirates' Director of Finance, IT and Services, and Lt Col Abdulla M Hassan Al Majid, Assistant Director Dubai Naturalisation and Residency for Airport and Free Zone.
Mr Mannion said: "This new Marhaba service is tailored for the discerning traveller who expects nothing but the best. We are deliberately starting in a modest way, confidently expecting customer demand to grow rapidly as passengers come to appreciate its many advantages and modest cost."
Mr Ismail Ali Albanna, Dnata's Director of Airport Services, commented: "This is another example of our constant enhancement of services to passengers using Dubai International Airport. It is in line with the Dubai Government's intention to ensure the airport's position as the premier transportation hub for the region."
At the heart of the project is the newly-equipped Marhaba Departures Lounge, located at the head of departure check-in row 9, manned round the clock by specially-trained Marhaba staff and just yards from baggage screening.
The lounge, with its reception area, cosy seats, Persian carpeted floors, TV, newspapers, magazines and free soft drinks and snacks, is available without charge to customers' families and friends, and can also be used for small private business meetings. It has been designed, in Arabic style, by Khawla Ibrahim Al-Slaes, Property Engineer with the Emirates Group's Property Services Department.

Notes and media contacts
The three service levels, available to passengers in any class of travel, are:Express check-in for AED30. Customers relax in comfort in the tranquillity of the lounge and enjoy a cool soft drink while Marhaba staff take care of check-in formalities and weigh their baggage;
Pre-bookable telephone check-in for AED30. Marhaba staff prepare boarding passes and luggage tags in advance, and protect the customer's choice of seat - a big plus, especially at peak times. They hand these to customer on arrival at the airport, saving valuable time.
Advance check in for AED40 including porterage. With this service, baggage and documents can be sent in advance to the airport. It is ideal for business travellers, families with children, old, physically challenged people and those who value the finer things in life.
At departure time, customers will be whisked to the gate in Marhaba's electric buggies, shaving 20 minutes off normal transfer time.
A separate immigration counter will help them beat the crowds, especially at peak departure times between 6 to 8 am and midnight to 2.30 am.
Travellers and travel agents alike can book the new services round the clock by calling the new Marhaba customer service centre 04-316 6611, at the Dubai Airline Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road; or Marhaba sales office in the Arrivals terminal; or via Marhaba's web site http://www.marhabaservices.com
