- PRESS RELEASE
As part of the multitude of activities planned at BurJuman to commemorate Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2005, the region's premier shopping destination is playing host to a unique collector's exhibition.
"An event like this is an exceptional opportunity for BurJuman shoppers to see some unique and very special material from private collections of local residents. All those who have kindly agreed to participate are passionate about their hobby, and it is this passion that we celebrate this week at the mall," said Sabina Khandwani, head of research and marketing, BurJuman.
Mohammed Rasheed's rare stamp collection from pre-Independence India will be on display opposite Cinnabon in the mall extension. Joseph Ponnou's antique collection of over 200 items includes an 85-year old telephone, a 100-year old camera and Chinese porcelain that are over 1000 years old. These will be displayed in various locations in the mall extension.
Art aficionados will appreciate the rare painting exhibition comprising art that is more than 100 years old as well as Suhail Al Zarooni's extensive collection of model cars, Waseem Ahsan Jamil's matchboxes and Adel Zarouni's pins.
BurJuman is also playing host to a unique antique cars exhibition this week. Shoppers are invited to marvel at seven classic automobiles on display in the mall extension, including a 1971 vintage Mercedes Benz, a 1936 Bentley and a military jeep from World War II.
DSS is being held for the eighth consecutive year from June 22 to September 2, 2005. The 10-week, multi-venue summer recreational extravaganza is held under the theme 'Big Fun for Little Ones'.
