Nakheel appoints General Manager for International City

In his role as General Manager, Rashid will have complete responsibility for the running of International City. Set in 800 hectares of land, International City is located in the Al Warsan area of Dubai at the intersection of Al Aweer Road, Academic Road and Emirates Road. The development will feature ten internationally themed residential districts - providing quality apartments for more than 60,000 residents when complete.

After graduating in civil engineering from UAE University, Rashid joined Dubai Ports and Customs as a site engineer, and rose to the position of Manager of the Engineering Office in the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation. Rashid moved to Nakheel in 2002, and as Senior Project Manager, Rashid has had overall responsibility for the management of the International City development including design development and construction.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said, "I am very happy with the appointment of Rashid Al Helli to General Manager International City - he was the obvious choice for the role having been instrumental in the conception and delivery of the project from the beginning. His expertise in project management has been very evident since he joined Nakheel; Rashid has led his team of engineers very effectively, and has already delivered a number of quarters in the Chinese district of the development. "

Rashid commented, "Having worked on International City for three years it is a great honour to be appointed General Manager for the project. We have already made good progress on the development, and as General Manager my priority is ensuring that the project is delivered to the full satisfaction of our customers, on time and within budget - and we are on course to do this.

This appointment is part of a number of announcements that are being made over the coming weeks as Nakheel restructures its senior management team in order to enhance customer focus and delivery, and to prepare for the next stage of growth and profitability. Each Nakheel project will now act as an autonomous strategic business unit complete with its own management, budget and team.
