HH Sheikh Mohammed urged national government employees to take advantage of the programme to enhance their professional skills. He emphasised IT's role in bolstering creativity and nurturing innovation in professional work environments.

The programme is being conducted by the HH Sheikh Mohammed IT Education Project (ITEP). The first phase of this ICDL training will cover a total of 750 national employees working for all the various government departments in Dubai. Training in this phase is expected to be completed by 7 September 2005.

The training programme, which will include all national employees working for the Dubai government, is expected to be completed by July 2007.

The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) is a globally recognized credential that certifies an individual as competent in using computers. Accepted as the standard for computer literacy in over 140 countries, the ICDL is designed for a person to 'drive' a computer with the same ease as they might drive a car. There are more than 13 million ICDL certified people in the world today.
