Abdulhamid Juma appointed as the Deputy Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority (DDIA)

By the directives of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, the Dubai Development and Investment Authority (DDIA) has announced the appointment of Abdulhamid Juma as the Deputy Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority (DDIA).
Mohammed Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Board of the DDIA said, "It is our pleasure to have Abdulhamid Juma join our team of leaders at the DDIA and we will surely benefit from his experience from the important positions he has held such as leading the Dubai Media City team."
Al Gergawi added, "Abdulhamid Juma joins DDIA at a time when it is entering a new phase of expansion and development which will help put the UAE on the map as the world's leading business centre and a base for top international companies to service their markets in East Asia and West Africa."
According to Al Gergawi, the coming phase will witness the implementation of a plan by the DDIA that will expand its operations locally and internationally in line with the standing of the UAE as a centre for business and investments attracted from all over the world.
Abdulhamid Juma said, "I am delighted to join the Dubai Development and Investment Authority and look forward to playing an active part in its expansion plans."
In March 2002, Abdulhamid Juma was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media City. Under his supervision, Dubai Media City has achieved considerable growth and managed to attract regional and International interest as a unique media community model of approximately 1,000 companies covering various media segments.
Abdulhamid Juma graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. He also holds a PMC (Personnel Management Certificate) from Ashridge College in UK and a certificate from Harvard Business School for a General Manager Programme he attended in 2002.
His early career assignments include six years in senior management positions at Jebel Ali Free Zone, were he was in charge of planning & implementing personnel, administrative, sales & marketing policies. He worked for two years in Citibank with the responsibility of increasing the acquisition of new customers across the product range.
In early 2000, Abdulhamid was a member of the initiating project team for Dubai Internet City, taking on the role of Commercial Manager. He was responsible for some of the major accounts like Hewlett Packard, GemPlus, Commerce One, Areeba and Tejari.com. In February 2001, he took on the role of Corporate Strategy and Planning Manager at Dubai Media City where he contributed in the development and implementation of the City's strategic objectives.
From this position Abdulhamid went on to take the responsibilities of Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Dubai Media City in July 2001. In this capacity, he led the drive to effectively promote the City, besides facilitating the move of major international media entities to Dubai Media City.
Abdulhamid is currently a member of the board of TCOM, and a member of the board of Al-Bayan newspaper, moreover e is also a member of the higher committee of the Dubai International Film Festival.
