A number of leading companies from Jafza will be participating in the award, which underlines the business excellence and performance of companies operating at the free zone.

The MRM Business Award, launched by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), is held under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister. The award covers four key business categories namely; Industry, Export, Re-Export and Finance, and Jafza will have strong participation in the first three categories of the award.

"Jafza is today one of the premier free zones in the region, which has attracted top business enterprises from all over the world. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and the strategic business advantages offered by Jafza have helped our clients to focus on achieving high levels of business performance with an overriding emphasis on quality," said Salma Hareb, CEO, Jafza.

"The MRM Business Award is one of the few awards in the region that acknowledges the contribution of the business sector in the overall progress of the national economy. We are pleased to offer our support to this award, which will be a tremendous boost to the large number of companies operating in the UAE," added Hareb.

The criteria for assessing applications for the MRM awards focus specifically on the factors that lead to outstanding business performance. By identifying the ingredients for success the award will help other firms and future participants to adopt the methods of the winners.

The MRM Business Award uses the Business High Performance (BHP) Model as the basis of assessment for the winners. The BHP Model focuses on an organisation's emphasis on the five components of strategic initiatives, leadership perspectives, quality imperatives, corporate culture and corporate social responsibility that make up the performance component of the model.

Over 50 companies from Jafza have expressed their interest in participating in MRM Business Awards, with 12 companies already having registered for the awards. The participating firms will gain a lot from their association with the awards. They will gain a tremendous experience to "best practices" that will eventually help them capitalize on their experiences and internal assessment. The companies can have an independent objective assessment of their strengths and weaknesses that will create an environment of healthy competition, which would enhance competitiveness.

"The MRM Award process will provide an ideal platform to participating firms for sharing of best practices, technical know-how and ideas. Jafza's involvement with the award will be an excellent learning experience for us, and the feedback we will receive will help enhancing the facilities and services offered by the free zone. As Jafza continues to attract companies from various industrial sectors, we are certain that it will contribute to boost Dubai's image as a top business destination," concluded Hareb.
