Egypt's TE Data selects Alcatel's broadband access solution

Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it has signed a frame contract with TE Data, the data communications and Internet arm of Telecom Egypt, the incumbent operator in Egypt, to supply its broadband DSL solution.
TE Data will deploy the Alcatel 7300 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM), the most widely deployed DSL platform in the world. Alcatel will also provide TE Data with its unique 5530 Network Analyzer, an advanced diagnostic software tool that detects line quality and equipment failures, and provides proactive detection of line problems using expert diagnostics to continually monitor service quality. TE Data joins other service providers such as Iceland Telecom, Ventelo, and KPN who use the 5530 Network Analyzer today to support the introduction of broadband services.

Alcatel is the world leader in broadband access with a cumulative DSL market share of 37.8% at the end of 2004, according to industry analyst Dell'Oro Group. To date more than 68 million DSL lines have been shipped and its broadband access solutions are prominent in networks of over 120 service providers worldwide.
