Advanced Home Living also plays in important role in demonstrating a richer and more enjoyable experience.

Philips impressed its media guests with products that make everyday home living better - from a Wi-Fi MP3 music system to a 30-second gourmet coffee maker to a powerful DVD recorder. In a comfortable setting with a mood set by a live jazz band, the guests were able to experience first hand how these and other devices work.

"This gathering highlights Philips' commitment to developing healthcare and lifestyle products that incorporate our advanced technologies in a way that is simple to use and that enhances and enriches the consumer experience," said Louis Hakim, CEO, Philips Middle East.

"Our brand promise is 'Sense and Simplicity', and as such we want to be the first company that consumers think of when they are looking for products that offer cutting edge technology and innovation, but with a simple and intuitive interface," Hakim added. "We are confident that we will achieve this because every product we make must meet three criteria: it is designed with the user in mind; it is easy to experience, and it delivers advanced features."

Products presented at the event included the Philips Imageo LED candles, which were placed on tables all around the venue to help set the mood; the Philips Wireless Music Centre, which streams high-quality MP3 files across a Wi-Fi network to satellite mini-stations; the Philips Ambilight Flat TV, which enhances the TV viewing environment by projecting background lighting from the rear of the TV onto the wall behind the set; a Philips DVD recorder with HDD, which offers one-touch recording and a function that pauses live TV in case of any interruption; the Senseo coffee system, which uses coffee pods from Douwe Egberts to make a delicious cup of coffee with a foam layer on top, and the HeartStart Home Defibrillator, which gives consumers the power to save lives if there is a cardiac arrest in the home.

Also on show were the Philips Cool Skin shaver, the Philips Satin.ice epilator, the Philips Sonicare toothbrush and the Philips Two-in-One advanced day/night lightbulb. For all the products, Philips employees and promoters were on hand to encourage guests to test the products and explain their features.

The casual feel to the evening was reinforced by the availability of a number of board and table games that guests were invited to play alongside the Philips products.
