With business continuity top of mind following the recent blackout in Dubai and availability of customer data and applications a constant concern, EMC's latest raft of CLARiiON innovations, equipped with UltraPoint technology to give customers greater reliability for scalable, sophisticated environments, will be welcomed across the region.

In addition, hundreds of GCC businesses are now focusing on the benefits of information lifecycle management. The expanded functionality of EMC's CLARiiON systems is specifically designed to help customers manage and protect their information more effectively throughout its lifecycle, meeting the specific data storage requirements of companies across the region.

"Effective storage management is about ensuring constant availability of information, as well as security, and providing a scalable structure which can grow with the business which operates it," said Mohammed Amin, regional manager, EMC Middle East. "The latest updates to our CLARiiON software tick all these boxes, and provide an accessible, user-friendly solution which can be effectively managed by firms lacking an in-house IT department."

Analyst Community Heralds CLARiiON Enhancements

"EMC's CLARiiON family has been a bellwether for high performance, modularity, high availability and robustness since its inception many years ago," said Arun Taneja, founder of Taneja Group, a technology analyst firm. "As apparent from today's announcement, it continues to lend itself to functional and capacity enhancements that reveal its architectural strength. This is what makes it one of the strongest players in the midrange market."

The new CLARiiON CX300-s, CX500-s, and CX700-s Fibre Channel and iSCSI models are based on UltraPoint hardware and software technology that combines point-to-point connectivity to individual disk drives with advanced diagnostic capabilities - resulting in the highest levels of reliability and availability. Unique Virtual LUN Technology enables CLARiiON customers to move data seamlessly within a CLARiiON system to improve performance and capacity utilization.

As customers scale their CLARiiON environments by implementing higher-capacity disk drives, the EMC-developed UltraPoint Technology provides them with the highest levels of reliability and availability. Using new point-to-point disk array enclosures and new drive-level fault detection, isolation and diagnosis capabilities in the CLARiiON FLARE™ operating environment, UltraPoint Technology allows midrange customers to scale their environments more effectively with leading availability and reliability features.

"Mid-sized companies which can move data smoothly and instantly are able to react more quickly to evolving situations, respond effectively to crises and provide crisp, clear and relevant service to their customers. EMC's Virtual LUN technology is vital in this respect," Amin continued.

EMC Middle East anticipates considerable interest around its enhanced CLARiiON range during the upcoming GITEX five-day exhibition. During GITEX, EMC executives will be highlighting the benefits of the upgraded CLARiiON systems to the regions mid-market sector as well as regional channel partners.
