CNS extends innovative technology solutions for UAE healthcare sector
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, August 15 - 2005 at 13:33
- PRESS RELEASE
Computer Network Systems (CNS), UAE's leading IT systems integrator, announced today an exclusive partnership agreement with IMTAC Oman, to promote PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) solution from Radin in the UAE.
According to the exclusive agreement, CNS will be responsible for offering and supporting Radin's Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), an innovative digital radiological image management solution that allows doctors and medical staff to have access, process and disseminate visual data across their networks. The solution is ideal for radiology departments in hospitals and clinics.
"There is a great number of undergoing initiatives within the UAE that aim to enhance and develop the nation's healthcare industry," said Tony Alam, Managing Director of CNS. "Today's announcement will enable CNS to extend to the country's booming healthcare sector a cutting edge solution that will help medical and healthcare organizations to swiftly process data and information, enabling doctors and physicians with intelligent tools that helps them take quicker decisions in treating patients."
PACS will interface to all the radiology equipment in a hospital such as X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, or Ultra-Sound machinery. The system will retrieve output, transform it to a digital media, and make it available to the concerned parties who can view it on a normal PC using an Internet browser -or for better resolution- users can view images on more specialized monitors.
Using an Internet browser, doctors can view radiology images wherever they are, perform various manipulations on the image like zoom, windowing, edge enhancement, 3D reconstruction and any function that helps in making better informed decisions on diagnosis.
Additionally, reporting could be speeded up using speech recognition. As such there would be significant enhancements in clinical productivity, lowered costs of processing with traditional processors being eliminated, and no more lost films.
"There is nothing more precious than people's health and wellbeing, and there is nothing more effective than technology as an enabler to enhance advanced healthcare services," said Gautam Dey, General Manager, Imtac. "In every hospital or clinic, medical imaging data is generated on daily basis. This flow of image files must be systematically organized, archived, and often made available to several workstations for diagnosis across the healthcare organization. This is where speed, security and simplicity of the transmitted information play a key role. Also, hospitals can now enable remote consultation with images being transmitted to specialists in other hospitals for a referral opinion."
PACS will integrate with any HIS (Hospital Information System) or RIS (Radiology Information System) that exists in the hospital so that the radiology output will be linked to the patient record and can be viewed by a simple click of a mouse.
"With PACS, radiology outputs can be easily exchanged through internet between different hospitals or clinics. PACS will allow hospitals to provide patients with a copy of their scans on a CD-ROM instead of bulky films. PACS will provide an easy, less expensive and on-line storage to such outputs" concluded Nicolas Barakat, Software Solutions business unit manager at CNS.
