Network of partnerships essential for building mobility business, says IDC (page 2 of 2)
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, August 15 - 2005 at 15:21
IDC's "CEMA Region Ready for Enterprise Mobility?" identifies and examines the evolving solution-centric value chain that is geared towards the mobility needs of the enterprise segment in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Though dissimilar in the level of mobile market maturity in country markets, the region is collectively witnessing an explosion in demand for mobile connectivity. This has been manifested through skyrocketing mobile penetration, expansion of notebook computers, mobile phones, and other handsets deliveries, as well as the development of wireless network infrastructure. As voice-centric revenue tapers off, CEMA operators face a slowdown in growth, and in some cases shrinking ARPUs due to saturation and an increased proportion of low revenue-generating customers. Operators are increasingly looking into new revenue generating services, with a particular focus on mobile data and content.
IDC is also conducting a survey of enterprises and SMBs in selected CEMA countries. The results of this survey will be made available in IDC's CEE and MEA Mobility Survey, which will examine the current and future state of mobility solutions employed in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The ten-country study (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE) includes survey data from 600 companies in each region (1,200 total) that addresses the fundamental issues of how companies acquire mobile hardware, select service providers, and use or plan to use mobile applications.
