Saudi national takes TNT/SAB Express reins in the Kingdom
- Saudi Arabia: Tuesday, August 16 - 2005 at 10:03
- PRESS RELEASE
TNT Express, the world's B2B express delivery company, has appointed Saudi national Taha Al-Harazy as Country General Manager of its TNT/SAB Express operations within the Kingdom.
Al-Harazy, (49), who holds a BSc from LA's Northrop University, joins TNT/SAB Express from SMSA FedEx where he was Chief Operating Officer. He has worked in the express delivery and logistics industry for the past six years after holding other senior posts in Saudi American Bank and Saudi Arabian Airlines.
"Taha joins us with a wealth of experience and industry knowledge within Saudi Arabia which will help further develop our business and geographic reach within the Kingdom, " said Mark Pell, TNT's Managing Director, Gulf and Saudi Arabia.
"This appointment also underlines our commitment to both the Kingdom and the region and is the most visible demonstration yet of our support for the country's Saudisation drive.
"Part of Taha's role will be to recruit and train Saudi nationals in line with our efforts to meet the government's localisation employment target of 35%. We have already made headway in this regard, with Saudi nationals currently accounting for 31% of our 200-strong Kingdom-wide workforce."
Currently TNT/SAB Express is undergoing major expansion and recently opened a new warehouse and office in Dhahran - and plans are also underway for the opening of a new premises and hub in Riyadh.
"The express logistics industry in Saudi is developing rapidly, averaging between 10-15% year-on-year growth. This is a huge opportunity on which TNT/SAB Express can capitalise," said Al-Harazy.
"My immediate task will be to invest in new facilities and infrastructure. We're planning to open four additional retail outlets across the Kingdom by the year end, to provide easy access to customers and establish the company as a High Street-style brand, being conveniently close to our client base. This will be the first in a string of projects I will strategise.
"I will also improve and further develop Saudi Arabia as part of TNT's Middle East Road Network (MERN) by reducing transit times by up to 50%."
