Emirates Airline, key sponsor and official carrier of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) for the 10th time running, in tie-up with MasterCard and luxury hospitality group Jumeirah, has attracted a record number of visitors to the shopping festival this year.

Attractive joint promotions are being run across eight countries including Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia for the duration of the Dubai Summer Surprises, where MasterCard card users will have an opportunity to win a luxury trip to Dubai, flying Business Class on Emirates and staying at one of Jumeirah's landmark properties.

A staunch supporter of DSS since the event's inception, the Dubai-based international airline successfully promotes the event in over 70 countries through innovative marketing activities, including value-for-money travel packages.

With nearly a month still to go, demand for Emirates' DSS travel packages has already exceeded total sales of similar packages in 2004 by 10 per cent.

Commenting on the airline's promotional efforts and continued support for the festival, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Emirates Executive Vice President Commercial Operations Worldwide said: "Emirates' support the Dubai Summer Surprises reflects the airline's drive to promote Dubai world-wide as a tourist destination. Our promotional activities across the globe have successfully attracted an increasing number of visitors to DSS year on year, and our partnership with MasterCard and Jumeirah has yielded rich dividends with discerning tourists who appreciate true value-for-money."

Around its global network, Emirates also offers excellent value-for-money holiday packages to the Dubai Summer Surprises. These packages, available to all Emirates customers regardless of class of travel, provide holidaymakers with a choice of accommodation in 20 hotels. As an additional incentive, those who book online via www.emirates.com get a 10% discount.

Customers also get a personalised meet-and-assist on arrival in Dubai, an Arabian Adventures Welcome pack, and an additional 10 kg free baggage allowance on return/onward flights from Dubai. First and Business Class passengers can avail of a free chauffeur drive from the Dubai International airport to the hotel of one's choice. For onward-bound passengers, stopover charges are waived.

The Dubai Summer Surprises festival will end with the Back to School Surprises from 25th August to 2nd September, featuring activities and workshops geared towards getting children back into the mood for school.
