The legendary HEMI® has a long list of milestones. Now a new historical mark has been reached, the production of Chrysler Group's one-millionth modern HEMI engine.

"The modern HEMI engine is one of our best examples of Disciplined Pizzaz," said Trent Barcroft, Director, Sales and Marketing, Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge, Middle East. "We combined the best of our engineering heritage with modern design to develop an engine that puts smiles on our customers' faces -- one million worldwide."

In the Middle East, the HEMI V-8 engine is standard in the Dodge Durango, Chrysler 300C, and now in the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee. It will be fitted as standard in the new muscle-car era evoking Dodge Charger that arrives at the end of 2005 and will also be in the 2006 Jeep Commander, the first seven seater from the legendary off-road brand.

The HEMI engine first debuted in a 1951 with the most famous of all being the '426' that was built from 1964 through 1971. These engines powered the Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars that made Detroit's Woodward Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard famous. Only 6,671 were produced.

The modern and elegantly simple Chrysler Group HEMI V-8 engine arrived in 2003. It achieves power, fuel economy and emissions goals with a design that is uncomplicated and cost effective.
The innovative Multi-Displacement System (MDS) will soon be standard equipment with all 5.7-litre HEMI engines. Improving fuel economy by as much as 20 percent, MDS seamlessly alternates between smooth, high fuel economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed, and V-8 mode when more power is in demand.

HEMI engines are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico.
