The global company, which completed its US$ 1.75 billion acquisition of IBM's PC division last May, is now operating in the region following a successful and complete integration period to the new Lenovo and is set to take on the Middle East PC market with a range of new products, some of which will be launched at the show.

"This year's show is going to be one to remember. Anyone who wants to know anything about Lenovo, its products and how we plan to bring new competition to the region's PC market will be able to do so at GITEX 2005," said Imtiaz Ghani, regional manager, Lenovo Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan. "Combining the strengths of both IBM and Lenovo, the new Lenovo's strategy is based on what we believe the Middle East market wants: high-quality products, world-class service, constant innovation and a cost-advantage. We believe that no other vendor in the market can match this proposition. We have big plans for the region-GITEX will only be the start."

Located in Hall 3 of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) exhibition halls, the Lenovo stand will provide first-hand demonstrations on the patented and award-winning ThinkVantage technologies in wireless, security, data protection and PC management that are available in nearly all ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops. The Hard Disk Active Protection System technology, for example, is a patented hardware and software solution that dramatically reduces hard drive failures by avoiding full-induced system damage.

As the new global personal computing company develops its presence in the region, there will be significant opportunities for business partners, particularly in the consumer segment. "We are currently talking to our existing channel base and working closely with them on expanding their business operations into the consumer segment. We will also be recruiting new retail partners in the region that cater to this market," add Ghani. All partners that have sold IBM Personal Computing Division products in the past have now transferred seamlessly to Lenovo.

Lenovo will also be setting the scene for GITEX Computer Shopper which will run alongside the show from the 24th-30th September at the Dubai Airport Expo, with a range of retail promotions designed to offer users great deals on its innovative range of ThinkCentre desktops and ThinkPad notebooks.
