DIA raising standards of excellence
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, September 03 - 2005 at 10:46
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai International Academy (DIA) launched its dream of building a 'World Class International School', by conducting a workshop to instill the school's vision, mission and values in its entire staff.
The interactive workshop stressed the school's ideology and its core values of integrity, social responsibility, achievement orientation, innovation, collaboration and appreciation of diversity. The workshop bridged the gap between cultural pride and overall excellence in education.
"The Global Knowledge Economy will be shaped by extraordinary individuals who display versatile intellectual competence, responsibility and cultural sensitivity. Our cornerstones are quality international education, rigorous academic preparation and all round development. However, our most important value is our belief in people as a competitive advantage. The workshop was conducted with the objective of empowering every member of our culturally diverse staff in order to unite them in their resolve to achieve our vision," said Poonam Bhojani, Managing Director, DIA.
Dubai International Academy achieves and sets, within the framework of the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate Organisation, world-class standards of education. It has already acquired candidate status of the IBO and is the first school in the country to offer all the three IBO programmes (The Primary Years Programme PYP, the Middle Years Programme, MYP, Diploma Programme DP), thereby bringing the 'IBO World School' in the country.
Built from a parents' perspective, DIA has been envisioned as a school that will help children exceed their capabilities and mentor them to a path of excellence in their latent areas of competence.
"It is indeed refreshing to see a school conduct itself as a customer-oriented organization. The groundwork and enthusiasm that was displayed in the workshop clearly demonstrates that the entire DIA staff team is committed to its collective vision," said Peter Scriven, Managing Director, The Business Performance Consultancy.
"Seeding the concept of internationalism, the multicultural environment at Dubai International Academy will encourage students to respect and appreciate the diversity and richness of other cultures. We have strived to select the best people from diverse backgrounds, while maintaining an optimal size composition of faculty and students. Having built a strategic framework of mission and values, we wanted to match it with the dynamics of individual awareness, desire and intention through the Introduction Day Workshop," added Clive Carthew, School Director, DIA.
DIA, located at the Emirates Hills, will open its doors to it's over 500 pupil from 54 nationalities on the 10th of September. DIA accepts registration at all times during the academic year through the Admissions Office. The school admits students of any nationality, who demonstrate that they will successfully cope with the academic programmes and contribute positively to the school.
