With its competitive price and outstanding features, the OCR is expected to be received extremely well by corporate as well as individual users throughout the Middle East.

The software scored high marks on hundreds of scanned text images achieving between 64 - 96% accuracy with an average overall accuracy of 92%. Scanned images included computer printouts, pages of standard Arabic books, school text books, story books, magazines and newspapers In addition to Arabic, Nattiq's OCR also works with languages such as Dari, Farsi, Pashto and Urdu.

Using Nattiq's OCR is the fastest and easiest way to convert paper files into editable digital documents which also saves organizations hours of work by eliminating the need to retype static documents. Nattiq's Arabic OCR can also convert non-text electronic images such as PDF files which may be edited with favorite desktop applications. Recognized documents can be saved into standard formats such as RTF and TXT. The software supports standard scanner interfaces such as TWAIN and WIA. It also incorporates a Document Quality Enhancement performing image processing functions on scanned documents or image files to increase recognition accuracy of low quality scans or degraded documents. With its Batch Processing capabilities it can recognize hundreds of documents simultaneously in a batch mode. Its Multiple Recognition engines allow it to submit sub-words, connected, cursive character combinations, to five separate and independent recognition engines for analysis. Engines are either character-based or segment-based. Each engine is suitable for specific font type, size, style, character, symbols and segment. With its Interactive Training feature, Nattiq's OCR allows training of new fonts, styles, symbols, characters and segments.

Nattiq will provide its Arabic OCR software bundled with its state-of-the-arts Dolphin Hal screen reader. A blind user may scan printed documents, pages from books, newspapers and magazines and then hear it read to him by Hal aloud. The Arabic OCR will be provided at a minimal cost to blind users. "The high accuracy of Nattiq's OCR and its reasonable price will create a great value to our customers", said Auda Hazeem, Nattiq's CEO. The OCR will be offered to a host of customers such as blind users, government agencies, educational institutions and other organizations. Gitex visitors may stop by Nattiq's stand number 809 in Hall 8 to check out the Arabic OCR during the period of September 25th to September 29th.
