  • PRESS RELEASE

BMW's newest high performance cars, the BMW M5 and BMW M6, are proving to be a hit with drivers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The first delivery of the newest members of the 500bhp club has just arrived and there are long waiting lists for future deliveries, according to Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive importer of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce marques in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

"The demand for premium high performance cars, like the M5 and M6 is strong, underlined by the waiting lists for both models. We are confident that sales of these two cars, along with those for the new 7 Series, X5 and 5 Series, will help us continue to increase our market share during the remainder of 2005," said Arno Husselmann, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Motors.

Abu Dhabi Motors recorded a 15% increase in car sales for the first six months of this year, compared with the same period in 2004. The upward trend in customer deliveries continued in July and August, both of which saw record breaking sales performances.

The most powerful 5-series sedan has a naturally aspirated five-litre V10 engine matched with a seven-speed SMG gearbox. Zero to 100 km/h is accomplished in well under five seconds and can be significantly better if the vehicle's launch control is activated.

Compared to the normal BMW 5-Series, the new M5 is more aggressive in appearance, thanks to subtle yet effective design modifications. A small rear spoiler, large alloy wheels and the M5's trademark four-pipe exhaust system compliment the rear end design, giving indications of the car's serious performance intentions.

Besides the engine developments, Formula 1 technology is carried over to the seven-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) - another first for BMW.

The V10 power unit - a clone of the M5 - and seven-speed SMG give the driver of the BMW M6 Coupé driving pleasure of the highest calibre. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h comes in 4.6 seconds and the M6 reaches 200 km/h in less than 14 seconds. Top speed, without the intervention of the electronic speed governor, is 330 km/h.

The most sophisticated and powerful BMW M6 yet built, the new Coupé sets the benchmark in the segment of high-performance 2+2-seater luxury sports cars. The M6 comes with all the driving dynamics required for a race track, while in terms of motoring comfort and equipment it is simply ideal for all roads and all purposes.

In September, Abu Dhabi Motors will also be the first Middle East importer to receive the all new BMW ALPINA B5. Powered by a 500 bhp supercharged BMW engine, the B5 accelerates from 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 314 kph. Zero to 200 kph is reached in just 12.5 seconds.

The B5's will arrive with 'Individual' exteriors and interiors and ALPINA logo sewn into the backrests of all the seats. Exclusive ALPINA styling includes aerodynamic packages, logo strips on each side of the vehicle as well as ALPINA wheels.

All BMW M-power and ALPINA cars are supplied with BMW's five years, or 100,000 kms, BMW Service Inclusive package, three years warranty and three years free recovery service. In addition, Abu Dhabi Motors has the highest number of options available in the UAE.
