Young Arab Leaders takes part in the Clinton Global Initiative

Young Arab Leaders (YAL) Chairman Mohammed Al Gergawi is leading a delegation consisting of more than 15 members that will take part in the international conference, organized by former US President Bill Clinton, taking place in New York on the 15th till 17th September, 2005.
The delegation's itinerary will include a special meeting with the former President to discuss the programme of the conference, as well as to look at a number of plans and proposals that aim to involve youth and reinforce their contribution to the process of economic development in the region.
The Head of the Academic Committee at YAL, Elias Bu Saab, said: "Our participation in this international initiative is due to our constant desire to be constructively involved at the global level and to contribute to important international events and conferences. This gives us an ideal opportunity to interact and share ideas with leaders, experts and authorities of an international caliber from diverse fields."
He added, "The significance of this initiative does not only come from the wide international attendance it attracts, including heads of states, prime ministers and prominent political and economic figures; it also gains significance from the critical issues that will be brought up for discussion, research and finding solutions to international concerns that hinder overall world development."
Abu Saab confirmed that the organization is cooperating with various regional and international corporations and organizations with the aim at reinforcing the youth's role in the process of development, and offering the younger generation opportunities that encourage innovation and contribute more effectively to the process of development.
Under this Global Initiative the former President Clinton aims to bring together non-governmental organizations and prominent figures from the political, economic, scientific and religious fields, in order to arrive at strategies and solutions to tackle the most significant of international concerns today. Another aim of the initiative is to promote multi-lateral cooperation and participation when it comes to making global decisions.
'Clinton Global Initiative' is unique and attracts leading international personalities including heads of states, prime ministers and prominent political and economic figures, including: His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Monarch of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and his spouse Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Queen Rania; Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair; Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdošan; Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo; UN Secretary General Kofi Annan; USA's Minister for Foreign Affairs Condoliza Rice; the Indian National Congress Party Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi; Robert Murdoch, the Australian international media tycoon; and the founder and owner of Turner Broadcasting Corporation, Ted Turner.
