- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, September 08 - 2005 at 08:56
- PRESS RELEASE
Middle Eastern banks are showing increased appetite for aviation finance, with the region becoming an important source of capital for both local and international airlines according to the organizers of the Third Annual Middle East and North African Airfinance Conference being held at at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai on the 13th & 14th September 2005.
"The credit quality of airlines like Emirates and Qatar Airways has always meant that international banks have viewed the Middle East as an important market," says Alasdair Whyte, chief editor of Airfinance Journal, "but Middle Eastern banks are an important source of cash in their own right. Aircraft are good assets for Islamic finance, but the market is not restricted to Shariah compliant banks."
Over 150 delegates are expected at the conference, which is the region's leading aviation finance event, comprising of airlines, aircraft manufacturers, banks, leasing companies and other leading aviation firms.
The conference is sponsored by Bombardier, Boeing, Citigroup, Embraer, GE, Linklaters and Natexis Banques Populaires.
