The first series of events will kick off next Sunday in Jordan in conjunction with IBM's business partners, STS, GCE and JBS at the Sheraton Amman Hotel where a number of key Middle East executives will demonstrate hardware and software technologies that help customers in different vertical sectors address fundamental business challenges in several aspects of their business operations.

Gathering CIOs and senior IT executives, the one-day conference will also visit Lebanon on the 12th September at the Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel in Beirut in partnership with business partners, Computer Business Machines (CBM) and Quantech. Similar events are also scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia over the next month.
"It is an important part of our strategy to work more closely with our business partners in their country markets and provide them with new growth opportunities through our broad range of on-demand technologies and expertise. Today, we are focusing on driving a lot more in-country customer events that will help us, together with our partners, extend our reach and provide them with an interactive platform that will enable us to address their needs and challenges quickly and effectively," said Takreem El-Tohamy, general manager, IBM Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.

Under the theme of on-demand, the events in Jordan and Lebanon will focus on IBM's new systems group agenda that covers its entire family of servers and storage solutions, as well as a special session on the company's software strategy in the region. Senior managers from the company's Middle East headquarters will also demonstrate how an on-demand business model can help organisations integrate their business processes, other applications and myriad pervasive computing devices end-to-end across the company and with key partners, suppliers and customers to respond with flexibility and speed to any customer demand, market opportunity or threat.

"The benefits of this model cannot be understated. An organisation, such as a telecom operator for example, can choose customer service to be the key differentiator between itself and its competitors by deploying a system that provides real-time, up-to-date information through a variety of wireless devices to its technical staff in the field. This solution can enable it to restructure its support services, saving money through greater efficiency and improving customer satisfaction," continued El-Tohamy. "The events we'll be rolling out across the region will carry different agendas that cater to specific market needs, however, our message is clear: business on demand is the way forwards for any organisation."
