Dr. Mohammed Raheef Hakmi, Chairman, Armada Group, said: "Our target is to assist the community in spreading knowledge. At Armada we believe that education needs to be provided to everyone irrespective of the financial background of a student. This is the only way to inculcate the importance of merit and the spirit of competition among the young. We are sure our decision will go a long way in helping the students who want to learn but face obstacles because of financial constraints."

The Armada Group's decision is expected to result in 20 students at Al Mazaya Private School in Sharjah receiving scholarships/financial assistance in one academic year. The company will be offering this facility for five years consecutively. Students who are really in need and those who excel in their performance in all the school activities will be eligible for this scholarship.

The company, being a firm believer in supporting such social causes, is also planning to extend the scope of this programme to students of schools in other emirates. Along with this, the Armada Group plans to offer scholarships to needy students in universities at a later stage.

Dr. Hakmi added: "As a true supporter of social efforts in spreading knowledge, the Armada Group is keen to support programmes that benefit the community as a whole. We will continue with our involvement in such social programmes in the future."

Apart from education, the Armada Group is also involved in other social activities beneficial to the community. For example, the company in conjunction with the Sharjah Municipality, sponsored the Second Sharjah Flowers and Gardens Exhibition held from March 23 to April 1, 2005 at the Al Majaz Park near Khalid Lagoon.

The Group's prominent projects include the over AED1-billion Armada Towers, a massive undertaking located at the Jumeirah Lake Towers, in the heart of new down-town Dubai and the AED25-million Armada Headquarters building which is coming up at the Dubai Internet City.
