Sheikh Nahyan welcomes Abu Dhabi University's new chancellor

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education, and His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmel Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Executive Board of Governors, ADU, met with Professor Dr. Reynold Macpherson, Foundation Chancellor, ADU, to welcome him to the UAE and to discuss the central role that university education is to play in the social and economic development of the UAE.
"We discussed ADU's interest in today's students and our findings that show how comfortable they are using computers and the web." said Dr Macpherson. "The world needs managers of information systems. We have international staff researching how best to exploit ICT in the UAE so our students can benefit and become contributing citizens of the future. We have outstanding staff looking for bright students to prepare as the next generation of leaders in education. We have entrepreneurial staff keen to help students create new businesses and step up old businesses. That's why our scholarships and fees are designed to attract the smartest students, whatever their circumstances. I am honoured to be given the opportunity to make a difference in the development of this country," he added.
"Professor Macpherson's career and international reputation in research and administration will complement the extraordinary talents of the existing ADU faculty and staff," commented H.E. Ali Bin Hamal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Executive Board of Governors. Abu Dhabi University is positioning itself as the cradle of international professionalism in the UAE. The steadily increasing admissions rate indicates that more and more students, as well as their parents, value ADU's sharp focus on quality, relevance, and its close alignment with Government policies.

About Abu Dhabi University:Abu Dhabi University was chartered as a private institution of higher learning in the year 2000 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and President of the University of Abu Dhabi Board of Trustees & Governors.
