The Webby Awards, which recognise websites showing remarkable achievements, have been hailed as the "Online Oscars" by Time Magazine. AME Info is one of the first regional websites to win a global award of this influence.

The "Webby Worthy Award" is a timely achievement for the online business resource which carries more than 50,000 news articles as well as full contact and activity details of more than 200,000 companies from 14 countries across the Middle East.

The 9th Annual Webby Awards received a record number of entries from over 40 countries and all 50 states in the US. Out of the over 4,000 entries submitted, fewer than 20% received this honour and were deemed Webby Worthy.

Klaus Lovgreen, CEO, AME Info said: "This award is just another example of the progress of AME Info. It shows that we are able to compete at an international level."

"The Webby Awards honour the outstanding web sites that are setting the standards for the internet," said Tiffany Shlain, creative director and founder of The Webby Awards. "AME Info's Webby Worthy selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators."

With daily news updates categorised according to vertical markets, video and audio features, specialist commentary on the Middle East's financial markets and contributions from guest writers, AME Info offers a comprehensive analysis of business development and activities.

Klaus Lovgreen added: "Global interest in the Middle East's business market is also growing apace, and we will continue to cater for the demand for regional specific knowledge."

Earlier this year the online business resource achieved a milestone of 50,000 subscribers for its personalised "My AME Info" service which provides users the benefits of instant e-mail news updates and contact information for listed companies, and exclusive interviews with senior executives.

In July AME Info also became the first known website to under take an e-audit. The results of the audit demonstrated the impressive continued growth and reach of the website.
