The Clinton Global Initiative takes off in NYC

The events of Clinton Global Initiative (Sep 15 - 17 2005) get underway Thursday morning in New York City.

This nonpartisan conference will bring together a diverse and select group of current and former heads of state, business leaders, noteworthy academicians, and key NGO representatives to participate in a series of dynamic interactive workshops.

The group will strategize on the best methods to reduce poverty; use religion as a force for reconciliation and conflict resolution; implement new business strategies and technologies to combat climate change; and strengthen governance.

Dubai Development and Investment Authority, on its part will put forward its experiences in facing economic challenges and with catalyzing the growth and development of Dubai's economy by attracting corporate and private investors to the UAE and by facilitating the growth of leading local businesses and encouraging local entrepreneurs.

These experiences are set to be highlighted during the discussions on economic development, in order to review the achievements and development Dubai has undergone over the past years and the methodologies that the Emirates implemented that lead it to globally establish itself as one of the most prominent and fastest growing countries in the world.

The Clinton Initiative is not only unique because of its global attendance comprising heads of states, prime ministers and prominent economic and political figures, but it is unique due to the vital issues and global concerns that will be discussed and potential solutions that will be explored, in an effort to tackle challenges and threats that hinder the process of global development and advancement.

Clinton Global Initiative will be attended by leading international personalities including: His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Monarch of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and his spouse Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Queen Rania; Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair; Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdošan; Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo; UN Secretary General Kofi Annan; USA's Minister for Foreign Affairs Condoliza Rice; the Indian National Congress Party Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi; Robert Murdoch, the Australian international media tycoon; and the founder and owner of Turner Broadcasting Corporation, Ted Turner.
