GPSSA launches the seminar entitled 'Role of the Media and Public Relations in expanding Awareness of Social Security'

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai Deputy Ruler and the UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of the General Pension and Social Security Authority, the General Pensions and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) organizes a seminar entitled 'Role of the Media and Public Relations in expanding Awareness of Social Security'.
Significant participation is expected from a large number of civil retirement and social security authorities from the Gulf, in addition to the regional office of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
"This seminar is being organized in accordance with the plans laid out at the meeting in Muscat of the presidents of the civil retirement and social security authorities", said Abdul Rahman Al Baqer, Deputy General Manager of the General Pensions and Social Security Authority during the press conference the GPSSA held on Tuesday to launch the seminar.
Al Baqer added, "A key goal of the seminar will be to highlight the importance of the role the media is playing in expanding awareness of social security and clarifying the duties and rights of the beneficiaries. It also aims at creating awareness of the insurance indemnity plan that will cover all GCC nationals working in the public and private sectors, within the GCC countries".
"The seminar is highly significant due to the insurance indemnity plan that will be implemented by January 2006. It also promises to be a highly successful event as it focuses on an area that is of wide interest not only to the public in the UAE, but also to GCC nationals", confirmed Al Baqer.
Several white papers will be presented and discussed at the seminar, and these will include papers presented by civil retirement and social security authorities in the GCC, as well as the International Social Security Association (ISSA). Dr. Ali Qassem Al Shuaibi - General Department of Community Service- Dubai Police, will also present a white paper, in addition to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. Participants will also have an ideal opportunity to interact with each other throughout the seminar.
Al Baqer also mentioned that a number of significant issues will be considered during the seminar and these include the role of the media in highlighting the importance of the social security, in both print and electronic media.
The insurance indemnity plan that will cover all GCC nationals working within the GCC countries is also one of the key aspects that will be discussed. This will include defining the concept of the plan, its goals and principles as well as the terms of its implementation and the subscription rates applicable.
Al Baqer added "the participants will also have the chance to present ideas on the economic status of the GCC nationals and their families, as well as the effect of social security on the stability of their social lives".
