While an established manufacturer of hand labelers, the move represents the company's first major revamp of its hand labelers since the development of PB3 15 years ago.

The two product lines are named after two well-known Japanese disciplines: Kendo, the martial art of fencing, and Judo, a sport and method of physical training similar to wrestling. The two disciplines symbolize the will to win allied with respect of the spirit of fair play in all situations. It is a test of the body as well as the soul, creating a perfect balance in one's character.

Mr T. Waki, Managing Director of SATO International, said, 'With the launch of KENDO and JUDO, SATO is upholding a tradition of innovation and excellence that dates back to the pioneering days of its development of one of the world's first hand labelers. The competition in the hand held labeler market segment has intensified over the past few years. In response to the needs of increasingly discerning users, SATO took steps to rethink and adapt our hand labeler product lines. Every care has been taken in the design and each enhancement made with the customer in mind. Competitive pricing and a responsive customer service are in line with SATO's objective to maximize value for our customers.'

'Sato is a constant innovator who leads by bringing new ideas to market faster and faster. In this case The Judo and Kendo are new ideas which have turned an old concept into a very exciting and flexible machine.' Clifford Kelaita Managing Director - Gulf Adhesive Labels Factory L.L.C. The KENDO product line comprises three single-line hand labelers, whereas the three new JUDO hand labelers are all two-liners. Both product lines come in three vivid colors: red, black and purple. To name but a few of KENDO's and JUDO's new exciting features:

• Click-and-slide ink roller and new ink roller sponge and packaging. The new and improved ink roller sponge contributes to a higher quality printout. And with the new drop-in method of swapping ink-rollers, they can be replaced at a stroke without dirtying the hands.

• Easy label loading. This new, more user-friendly mechanism and the clear open path to load the labels have been especially designed to avoid any cumbersomeness in loading the label. All the new products from the two lines work with both face-in & face-out label rolls.

• Easy to maintain. The configuration of the new products makes it even easier to understand how they work. And with no pesky screws, each product is easy to take apart for easy maintenance. Also, SATO's distributors have in place an established after-sales service to attend to all of the end-users' queries and needs.

• A clear and vivid printout. The clear font type - font size up to 5mm - combined with a high quality index band - the print band character width and band width have been widened - are other factors contributing to the now crisp printout. For the user's benefit, the read depth distance is now closer making the characters more legible.

• Support for both rectangular and wavy labels. The new labelers have six different feeding mechanisms in the same body, allowing users to print rectangular or wavy labels without having to change to another labeler - 4 out of 6 of the new labelers can print both rectangular and wavy labels. In a bid to increase the choices offered to the operator, the new hand labelers are now compatible with standard label types and widths.

• Light. The new KENDO and JUDO are among the lightest models on the market. A feature that is aimed at minimizing the real danger of hand pain and fatigue from repetitive use.

The two exciting lines of hand labelers will be commercially available in the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the GCC region through our local distributor in the region GALF. GALF has been the exclusive SATO distributor for more than 15 years and it is the only company in the Middle East that is SATO certified RFID partner.

About RFID - 'RFID (Radio frequency identification) is a generic term for technologies that use radio waves to automatically identify people or objects. There are several methods of identification, but the most common is to store a serial number that identifies a person or object, and perhaps other information, on a microchip that is attached to an antenna (the chip and the antenna together are called an RFID transponder or an RFID tag). The antenna enables the chip to transmit the identification information to a reader. The reader converts the radio waves reflected back from the RFID tag into digital information that can then be passed on to computers that can make use of it.'
