Rules of Origin in International Trade seminar is launched

The seminar organized by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Economy and Planning MEP.

Abdul Rahman G. Al Mutaiwee Director General of DCCI delivered the opening speech at seminar which was attended by HE Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh assistant undersecretary of Economic Affairs and international cooperation at the Ministry of Economy and Planning.

In his opening speech Al Mutaiwee said "Hosting this seminar reflects our believes that the cooperation with all the authorities and establishments in both public and private sectors will serve our national economy and the public. He added the seminar is organized according to the Chamber's Strategy and its activated role in emplacement public policies that organize the business. It also enhances the DCCI efforts in cooperating with governmental authorities to emplace the official formula which is certified in all the agreement signed by the UAE with any other country, this will support the negotiation teams from the UAE in their negotiations with other countries.

Al Mutaiwee explained that the seminar comes at an important stage where the international economies map facing continuous changes and new challenges such as globalization, liberating the international trading and the communications and technology's revolution. In edition to that competition is one of the major challenges that face our national economy especially after signing the Free Trade Agreements.

Al Mutaiwee explained that the seminar proposes to acquaint the business community in particular producers, exporters and importers with rules of origin in general, and specially FTA Preferential Rules of Origin, given that they are the main pre-requisites for imported and exported goods from and to trading partners to enjoy trade preference under FTA.

Al Mutaiwee said "Rule of origin is a very important issue since the product's origin considered it's economic nationally and the rules of origin are the systems decide the percentage of inputs which were used in manufacturing or producing a product". He added the seminar answered many questions about the rules of origin and give some details on FTA Preferential Rules of Origin and many other important subjects.

Al Mutaiwee explained that this meeting completes other meetings that were set up on several levels and different stages including the private sector as a major partner in developing the national economy in order to enable the country a better vision in regional and international negotiations or agreements.

The seminar aims to acquaint the business community in particular producers, exporters and importers with rules of origin in general, and specially FTA Preferential Rules of Origin, given that they are the main pre-requisites for imported and exported goods from and to trading partners to enjoy trade preference under FTA.

The seminar proposes to introduce types of Rules of Origin, the measures used to specify country of origin, and the originated obligation, in addition the mechanism adopted to establish and authenticate the origin as well as impacts of these rules on trade and investment.
