Creativity will play a major role in DSF 2006

With the announcement of the dates for the 11th Dubai Shopping Festival running from January 4 to February 4 2006, the Organising Committee members for DSF 2006 convened their first meeting to hammer out the course of action for the fun-filled fiesta of shopping and entertainment today at the Park Hyatt hotel.
While presiding over the meeting, Saeed Al Nabouda, presented the figures of DSF 2005 which he informed were six per cent more visitors and 15 per cent increased expenditure in comparison to DSF 2004 figures, "The smashing reports of the 10th year celebrations of the last festival leads us to the 11th DSF with bigger and better attractions. To kindle creative thinking and innovative ideas from within the various participating Government Departments, the DSF office has come up with the Afkar award which is tailored for the OC members. By virtue of these awards members will be honoured for coming up with fresh ideas for the all-endearing shopping festival," he announced.
Appreciating the efforts of the Organising Committee members, the DSF CEO said, "It is through the focused efforts of the various Government Departments that DSF has grown to be an icon of shopping and family fun today. So, once again it's time to look ahead and move on and to give the world yet another episode of a memorable shopping festival," said Al Nabouda.
The Organising Committee heads and members attending the meeting were Brig Mohammed Eid M. Al Mansuri of Dubai Police General HQ; First Lt. Ismail Abdullah of Civil Defence, Ahmed Abdul Karim, Mohammed Al Fardan, Mohammed Al Noori and Dawood Al Hajri from Dubai Municipality; Ibrahim Talib from DEWA; Mohammed Helal Al Marooshdi from DED; Omar Al Falasi, Essa Al Malik and Salih Zohroub from DOHMS; Marwan Juma bin Byat from DTCM; Nuha Safar and Sumaiya Al Shamshi from DCCI; Mariam Juma and Matar Salbouk from Dubai Education District, Abdul Rahman Essa from Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone, Anita Mehra and Masoud Mohammed Saleh, Dubai Civil Aviation; Ahmed Al Mansouri and Adel Omar from Dubai TV; Hesham Khalifa Al Qaizi from Te-com.
