At a press conference titled Imagine the Future of TV, company executives highlighted how recent technological developments will reshape the European TV marketplace and how Samsung is prepared to support the market as new TV viewing possibilities of the digital era emerge.

Samsung demonstrates it's leadership in the global TV market by its development of the world's largest TVs across several different technologies 102" Plasma, 82" LCD and 71" DLP™. In addition, the newest SlimFit™ TV, just two-thirds the thickness of standard tube TVs, is creating a completely new product category.

The company's ability to continually raise the bar in digital TV development is further proven through its latest image enhancer, known as Digital Natural Image engine or DNIe™, as well as 13 bit colour reproduction, providing 549 billion colours. This year at IFA, Samsung will showcase Mobile TV technology that allows consumers to enjoy TV anywhere through products such as notebook computers, PDAs, portable DVD players, camcorders, mobile phones and portable media players.

In addition to live TV demonstrations, its stand in Hall 20 highlighted the company's 2005 portfolio of design-led innovative camcorders, set-top boxes, home cinema systems and digital audio players. Through this trade show, Samsung reinforced its leadership in the digital home and demonstrated how the company is leading the way in digital convergence.

Mr. B. W. Lee, President & CEO, Samsung Middle East and Africa headquarters said: "Through cutting-edge design and technological advancement Samsung is continuing to challenge the consumer electronics market by developing innovative category-leading products. We will always strive to surpass the existing design limits and provide consumers with leading-edge products that truly enhance their lives."

At IFA this year, Samsung offered visitors a preview of its extensive portfolio of home, office, mobile and component technologies. The highlights included:

• 102-inch Plasma TV and 82-inch LCD TV - The world's largest Plasma and LCD TVs delivering to consumers a perfectly smooth theater quality experience.

Widely recognised for its excellence in digital technology, Samsung products were voted best in Europe by EISA in 3 categories: LCD TV (40" LCD TV), home theater system (HT-P1200) and portable media player (YH-J70). These accolades, in addition to the twelve iF Design Awards received at Germany's International Design Forum last March, underscores Samsung's commitment to provide consumers with advanced technology, innovative design and functional products in the digital era.

Furthermore, Samsung Electronics has now become the world's number one consumer electronics brand, after it surpassed long entrenched player, Sony. The company is now valued at $14.9 billion and is ranked at the 20th position among the top 100 global brands in a survey by BusinessWeek magazine and InterBrand Consultancy
