- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, September 20 - 2005 at 13:07
- PRESS RELEASE
Gavin Chappell has recently arrived in the Emirates to join the teaching staff at Tower Links Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah.
From Nottingham he moved to Cairo, Egypt, where he became Head Teaching Professional at the Mirage City Golf Club, JW Marriott Hotel Cairo. His main roles were to both teach and further develop their Junior Programme as well as the club membership.
At Tower Links Golf Club he aims to attract new players to the club from both the local vicinity and further afield, as Gavin says, "Tower Links has become more accessible through the completion of the new road to Ras Al Khamiah, so now we are only a 45 minute drive from Dubai. This will be a great help in encouraging players from other Emirates such as Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi to come and play the course. Giving them the opportunity of playing an not only an outstanding course, but experience our friendly and excellent service, which will I am sure encourage them to return." He went on to say, "We have developed a wide range of programmes to suit all standards of play, from a beginners level to a more experienced level. The Golf Academy at Tower Links, with its driving range, short game area and state-of the-art video analysis system (GASP) is one of the best I have ever seen and an excellent facility for golfers of any standard to come and work on their game."
Junior golf is a high priority on Gavin's list to develop at Tower Links; he says, "I think it is always important to allow junior golfers a chance to play the game. As the schools start to return, I will be keen to contact them to set up a junior programme." Gavin is looking forward to his new role at Tower Links, where he plans to be not only heavily involved in the teaching side of the game, but also work more with club members, organizing tournaments and special events for them. "I am looking forward to being part of the team here at Tower Links as the club and membership grows and helping it establish itself as one of the very best golf clubs in the region," he concluded.
