The US$700,000 project integrated all of the company's departments and functions onto a single computer system designed to serve the specific requirements of each section.

"Hyperlink has established itself as a leading Oracle solutions provider in the Middle East, and this is our second major project in Lebanon," said Hani Harik, President Hyperlink. "Our vast experience and acknowledged expertise in delivering custom-made solutions for our extensive clientele has been instrumental in creating a position of trust in the regional markets."

Hyperlink's regional sales manager, Ghassan Jamil, said, "We are proud to work with a professional business house like Fattal and its progressive management. Hyperlink's Oracle-based ERP solution for Fattal will boost the instant information accessibility of the company, thus making a significant difference to its profit margins. Enhancing the information availability of any company facilitates optimum decision making and consequently influences profits."

Hyperlink's solution is expected to save Fattal millions of dollars in the long run, since upgrading conventional administrative systems turns out to be quite costly. The ERP solution is a one-time expense, as the customer pays once for installation and receives free upgraded versions from Oracle. Hyperlink, one of Oracle's 30 partners providing ERP solutions in the region, has implemented nine of the 31 projects for Oracle last year.

With branches in Jordan, Syria and the UAE, Fattal has centralised its operations with Oracle's applications. This allows Fattal to keep track of its 13 diverse companies, which include pharmaceutical, ice cream and digital imaging products. The company is now able to integrate its various operations and keep pace with its 10,000 daily transactions, 1400 sales people selling door-to-door products (including the 600 women marketing Avon products) and 160 van sales people distributing products to various stores.

"All efficiently managed businesses need a system to track various processes. A robust ERP solution can provide updated reports of a company's net profits, while performing its budgeting, implementing growth schemes and planning. An organisation as big as Fattal can now find out - at a click of a button - the products that are selling and the ones that are not," said Jamil. The advanced features on the system means that it can also be programmed to warn the company of products that have not reaped profits in the market.
