The training, which began in Riyadh on 19 September, is being run by BAE Systems Middle East and Saudi Development and Training.
Companies attending the session are Alsalam Aircraft Company, Advanced Electronics Company, International Systems Engineering and Saudi Development and Training all from Riyadh, and Aircraft Accessories and Components Company from Jeddah.
The training is in BAE Systems' Business Excellence processes, which forms one part of the company's Supplychain Excellence programme. It has been developed from the widely deployed European Foundation for Quality Management.
The training is focused on the adoption of high quality processes in leadership, policy and strategy, people management, partnership and resources, processes and results.
The two-week sessions will aid the drive by BAE Systems and its global supplier base to introduce advanced engineering and manufacturing work to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, says BAE Systems Middle East Managing Director, Damian Turner.
'Our aim is to create in Saudi Arabia what we call a 'home market', a location where we produce as well as sell goods and services.' he commented.
'The Kingdom has what we need to achieve this: an existing industrial base, strong local market and a drive to create jobs and acquire expertise. This will become our eighth home market around the world.
'Saudi Arabia is the largest aviation and defence market in the Middle East and the government has introduced measures to encourage further investment to achieve greater self-sufficiency and boost the knowledge-base within Saudi firms. Our plan is to support this in our existing work and by expanding business for new customers, projects and sectors both here and in neighbouring states.'
