Corning Cable Systems introduces Plug & Play(tm) Universal System at GITEX
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, September 22 - 2005 at 08:25
- PRESS RELEASE
Corning Cable Systems, part of Corning Incorporated's Telecommunications segment, will be introducing its Plug & Play(tm) Universal System in the Middle East at this year's GITEX tradeshow in Dubai, UAE.
The Plug & Play Universal System is a pre-terminated optical fiber cabling system that dramatically streamlines the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in the premises environment, particularly in data center applications. The innovative system is able to be installed and operational in a fraction of the time when compared to conventional field-termination methods, significantly reducing installation cost.
Plug & Play Universal Systems eliminates fiber polarity as a factor in system design, redesign or installation through its value-added wiring solution. Because of its innovative design, the Universal System has no special polarity components, avoiding the polarity problems caused by incorrect placement of modules and jumpers. Plug & Play System modules and harnesses are wired the same to simplify system assembly and all components in the system connect to one another the same way, every time.
The Universal System allows two or more MTP® Connector trunks to be easily linked together; high-fiber-count trunks can be routed to an intermediate distribution area where smaller-fiber-count trunks are interconnected and distributed to zone, station or cabinet areas. The system provides a simple migration path between 2-fiber and parallel applications, and system length is expandable by using Plug & Play(tm) Universal Systems extender trunks without impacting transmit/receive polarity.
"GITEX plays a key role in our Middle East strategy", said Hank Dunnenberger, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Private Networks, EMEA. "We are able to position our high-end solutions, including our Plug & Play Universal System, with the key decision makers of this dynamic region.
These customers are looking for companies who can offer complete solutions for 10 Gigabit networks of the future (copper & fiber), and GITEX brings us in contact with them."
The Plug & Play Universal System features trunks, extender trunks, harnesses, modules and patch cords and is part of LANscape Pretium, a complete tip-to-tip solution including fiber optic and copper cables, hardware and test equipment.
